Vittal Mallya Education and convention center, bangalore

Instituitional

This design was an open national-level competition for the design of a convention center for the University of Bangalore. The design was awarded Second Prize.

The design was an interesting layout of various requirements around a square courtyard in a spiral form like a swastika. It was an interesting interplay of levels segregating the private meeting or seminar facilities from the public auditorium.

The 1500-person capacity auditorium had interlinked seating lower level to an upper-level balcony for better movement, faster exit, and feel of larger volume. Another interesting feature was a proposed electro-mechanically collapsible false ceiling to optimize the auditorium capacity to half during plays or cultural functions.
