This institute provides an international residential campus for short-duration courses in Buddhism through classroom teaching and interactive living with the monks. This low-rise campus with a hierarchy of courtyards for climatic, visual, and functional use has an organic character with interactive spaces.
The campus provides accommodation for a 150-person capacity assembly hall, a meditation room in a serene landscape, administrative area, classrooms, library with a collection of Buddhist manuscripts, printing press, and residential accommodation. The design achieves a contemporary Green Building character through the use of rich architectural heritage. Through proper orientation, use of local material, and sun shading elements, solar heat has been reduced. Low-energy consumption passive downdraft evaporative cooling, two-stage evaporative systems are used to maintain comfortable ambient temperature.
A reliable service infrastructure that is low on operational and maintenance costs has been achieved.
