The proposed office campus is located along the Jodhpur-Jaipur highway opposite the military hospital in the cantonment area. The site is gifted with a beautiful view of the Umaid Bhavan Palace on one side and the Meharangarh Fort on the rear. This campus is self-contained with an office building, VIP guest house, transit accommodation, as well as housing for the officers and staff. A multipurpose hall along with an open-air amphitheater has been provided for various community functions of the residents.
The site was low-lying and refilled, and this constraint was used as a challenge by providing parking in sunken stilts for the office. Keeping in mind the traditional architecture of Rajasthan, the office building has been designed around a central courtyard with a water body and green space giving the users a visual relief from the extreme heat of Jodhpur. The office building has an atrium towards the courtyard allowing day lighting. The deep-set windows on the outer face protect the spaces from the harsh sun.
The local stone has been used for the entire campus keeping in mind its surroundings and historical nature. The officers’ accommodation is closer to the office while housing for the staff and other multi-functional areas are segregated without infringing on each other’s privacy through separate access. A large green space between the residential and office areas provides a suitable buffer.
